Eco-friendly vehicles, consistent with Guyana’s efforts to reduce carbon footprint – Head of State

President Bharrat Jagdeo yesterday lauded the combined efforts of Chinese production and ingenuity and Guyanese entrepreneurship which has led to an innovative venture that will now see Guyanese accessing low-cost, environmentally friendly vehicles.
He was speaking last evening at the launching of RKs Eco-Starmotos at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac.

The Head of State said that the vehicles are consistent with the Guyana’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint.
He added that even though Guyana is not a major producer, “if we could demonstrate to the developed world that we can achieve prosperity and that we can meet the needs of our people through an alternative, non-polluting pathway, it could become a useful lesson for them to emulate.”
He commended the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder of RK’s Guyana Security Services, Roshan Khan, for taking such an initiative that will assist many Guyanese to improve their lives and feel a sense of uplift.
Prime Minister Samuel Hinds who, according to the President, has been lobbying for years for Government to adopt this venture, said that the use of these types of vehicles has enabled Asian countries to move on a path of steady development.
“You want to have the kind of equipment and vehicles that would allow people to advance stage by stage,” he said.

The Prime Minister posited that the prospects of Guyanese welcoming this type of vehicle are good.
China’s Ambassador to Guyana, Yu Wenzhe, said that this venture is yet another example of the cooperation between Guyana and China and he hopes that the bilateral ties will continue to be strengthened.
The CEO said that the vehicles came in parts and were assembled in Guyana by Guyanese. He noted too that this is the first time in the country’s history that vehicles are assembled here.
The vehicles are on sale and the company will be offering attractive deals, particularly to the first 25 buyers. (GINA)
