WE are led to believe that professionals are equipped to proffer profound advice when consulted or to put it another way, it is expected that their written contributions would measure up to profundity.
I cannot honestly say that what was offered by Dr. Bertrand G. Ramcharran (Stabroek News, Sept 03, 2010) was anywhere enlightening, but I do believe it was an honest attempt to arouse, in public, the necessary interest into scrutinising the stated policies.
I wonder whether it will not be a better undertaking by this professional, or any other for that matter, to review the respective records of the two major political parties whilst in government. Maybe say for the period of the first 18 years and to be more specific, further comment on the actual situation that obtained, which will show that in one case, the economy of the country was already in tatters whereas in the other, a wholesome economy is being enjoyed.
