TWO employees of Giftland Office Max appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday, charged with simple larceny.
Intizam Bacchus, 28, of Diamond Squatting Area and Max Aaron, 28, of Lot 202 Eccles, both on East Bank Demerara were each put on $30,000 bail and their case was transferred to another Court for October 29.
Particulars of the offence said, on September 3, the defendants stole two boxes of ‘Hammer Mill’ paper, valued $24,000, from their employer but they pleaded not guilty.
Defence Counsel Mohamed Zaffar said Bacchus was employed as a porter and Aaron a driver.
The lawyer said Bacchus was instructed, by the General Manager of the company, to take the paper out of a bond and did so dutifully.
Zaffar said both men are innocent and will vigorously defend themselves.
