Father, daughter bonded after assaulting each other

A MAN and his daughter appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday, charged with assaulting each other. Fifty-year-old Brian Carryl and Abiola Carryl, 32, both of Lot 74 Providence, East Bank Demerara, pleaded not guilty but indicated that they did not wish to continue the prosecution.
The charges alleged that, last August 29, they unlawfully assaulted one another so as to cause actual bodily harm.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Adrian Thompson, for the father, told the Court the woman lived in the man’s house and refused to leave although she was asked to move.
Thompson said she is, therefore, a trespasser and not a tenant.
She said she is an employee of Eddie’s Religious Stall and the home in which she lives belongs to her aunt but her father continually claims the property.
According to her, the building has been turned into a brothel since her father returned from the United States (U.S.) and takes several women there, regularly.
Both defendants were made to sign bonds to keep the peace for 12 months.
