Syfox murder trial continues today

Star witness  Pauline still under cross-examination
STAR witness Pauline Rodney, the mother of Roslyn Rodney – the woman who was allegedly murdered, will continue answering questions from Senior Counsel Mr. Bernard De Santos, when the trial continues this morning at the Demerara Assizes.
The morning session of the trial did not go ahead on Tuesday due to the absence of a male juror, whose delay  – as was later explained to the foreman of the jury,  was due to a  punctured  wheel on his motor cycle.
And,  Justice Roxanne George, the presiding  Judge, had an important engagement yesterday which prevented her from attending court. As such,   the further sitting was adjourned  to today.

At the trial, Lennox Syfox is facing a  two-count indictment  for having, on the 19th day of August 2005 in the county of Demerara, murdered Roslyn Rodney and for having on the said date  unlawfully and maliciously wounded Anilisa Rodney.
Conducting the case for the prosecution is Miss Latchmie Rahamat, who is  assisted by Miss Rhondel Weever.
In answer to cross-examination by Mr. De Santos, S.C., the witness Pauline  Rodney said the first time she saw the accused Lennox  Syfox with the silver knife on the day in question, he (the accused) was in her house.
But when counsel reminded her that in her evidence-in-chief she  had said that when she first saw the accused  with the  silver knife that day, he was in her yard, Pauline reneged  and said the first time she saw him with the  knife, he was in her  yard after jumping the fence.
Witness told  De Santos his suggestion that the accused had  gone at her home that night to visit  her daughter was not true.  She demonstrated how the accused slashed her daughter on the face, neck and  arm several times before the wounded woman who was holding her child in her arms, fell and was later  pronounced dead.
