CHIEF Elections Officer Mr. Goocool Boodhoo has indicated that the second cycle of the continuous registration process will begin on Monday, September 6, 2010.
Boodhoo said that, in accordance with the law, the commencement order and registration offices will be published in three dailies.
According to Boodhoo, the commission will be meeting with the chief scrutineers next Wednesday on the preparedness of the registration offices after which the locations of those offices, and official hours of work would be published.
There will also be a meeting of the Guyana Elections Commission and political parties, to apprise them of any new developments.
He noted that the process to notify the general public is always ongoing and pointed to the many advertisements in all sections of the media that allow for this.
The Chief Elections Officer stressed that policies governing elections are dictated by the commission and not any single person.
The first cycle of continuous registration began in October 2005, and concluded earlier this year. Thousands of Guyanese were given new national identification cards.
