Minister Benn disclaims pictures in certain sections of media

PICTURES which appeared in certain sections of the media demonstrating deterioration in sections of the Linden to Lethem Road were yesterday regarded as misrepresentation of the current condition of the road.
Minister of Transport and Hydraulics Robeson Benn stated that the pictures are approximately
10 days old and noted that the Hunt Oil section going to Meritezero was restored approximately one week ago but because of water logged conditions it is still under maintenance.
It was further noted that the Ministry will continue to monitor the area as it is forecast to have rainy conditions.
A crew from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications has arrived in the area and is working in the northern section.
Minister Benn is urging commuters of heavy-duty trucks, tankers, low beds and flat beds to note that the correct maximum allowable load capacity for their vehicles is 12 tons. The Hunt oil section is open to traffic from 12:00h – 13:00h and 19:00h – 21:00h.
This section of the Linden to Lethem Road was previously flooded owing to water overflowing the stretch caused by heavy rainfall. The Ministry was able to construct dykes and expedite works in a timely manner. (GINA)
