Police nab suspect, vehicle in brazen Prairie Hotel robbery

A SUSPECT and the vehicle he was driving are in police custody following a brazen afternoon robbery Thursday at the Prairie Hotel, at Coverden, on the East Bank Demerara.
Police said at about 15:00h, manageress, Norma Lawrence, and desk clerks, Sheloma Lyte and Hemwattie Bhagwandeen were on duty when three men, two of whom were armed with handguns, entered and held them up.

The perpetrators took away a total of G$84,000, $US158, jewellery and two cellular phones and escaped in a motor car bearing registration number HB 6445.
Acting quickly on the report, ranks of a mobile police patrol later intercepted the motor car at Providence, East Bank Demerara.
The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was arrested and is in police custody, while the vehicle has been detained by the police.
