THREE men are in police custody following a robbery at Saj Rice Mill Inc. at Burma, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, on Thursday night.
Police reported that at about 19:00h, two security guards were on duty when three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, entered the compound and held them up, then proceeded to assault and tie them up.
That done, the perpetrators then broke into the office and carried away a canister with an undisclosed sum of money and escaped in a Titan motor vehicle.
Acting promptly on the report, mobile police patrols in policing divisions were alerted, and the motor vehicle was intercepted by an alert police patrol on George Street, here in the city.
The three men in the vehicle were arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations, while the motor vehicle has been impounded.
