JUSTICE Brassington Reynolds discharged Rudy Ramlall previously indicted with abduction and carnal knowledge after the virtual complainant testified that she did not wish to pursue the matter. The now 18-year old, informed the court that she was not forced to make the decision, but did so off her free will.
Between September 29 and October 5, 2006, Ramlall, was alleged to have taken the unmarried girl out of the possession and against the will of her parents, at Mara Village, East Bank Berbice.
During the said period, he allegedly had forced sex with the then 14-year old girl.
Following the virtual complainant’s evidence, State Prosecutor Dionne Mc Cammon informed the court that the State will close its case.
Consequently, Justice Reynolds, presiding in the Berbice Assizes, instructed the jury to return a formal verdict of not guilty on the two counts in favour of the accused.
