RUSSEL Corbin was yesterday remanded to prison by Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton on a breaking and entering and larceny charge. Corbin was not required to plead to the charge which said between August 4 and 5, at Parika, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Jaiwattie and stole a quantity of clothing, carpenter tools, and a bicycle, all valued $33,700.
Corbin will remain in jail until August 13 at Leonora court.
Another defendant, Gary Kanhai, appeared in the same court charged with the same offence, but was released on bail.
Kanhai, of 315 Middle Street, Georgetown, was not required to plead to the charge which said on August 4 at East Street, North Cummingsburg, he broke into the dwelling house of Vibert John and stole four pairs of boots and other articles, all valued $28,500.
The charge said he also stole a music set from the home, valued $50,000, belonging to Michael Bamfield.
Kanhai was granted $35,000 bail and will return to court on September 15.
Anthony Brown, also known as ‘Blacka’, appeared before the same magistrate and was not required to plead to a simple larceny charge.
It is alleged that, between August 8 and 9, at Parika, he stole a quantity of clothing valued $600,000, belonging to Federick Russell.
Magistrate Octave-Hamilton remanded Brown to prison because she was not satisfied with the address he gave the court at One Mile, Potaro, Bartica.
He was refused bail and will return at Leonora Court on August 13.
