IN the year 2009, the Marine Administration Department directed that all speedboats operating passenger service in the country must be fitted with a shed and cushioned backrest for passengers’ seats.
To date only some areas have complied, Georgetown/Vreed-en-Hoop, Parika/Bartica, Wismar/Mackenzie.
I would like to know why the speedboats operating the Parika/Wakenaam/Supenaam service have not complied causing residents that travel much hardship.
This service area has two shed boats but even with heavy rain falling have to wait its turn.
Could Minister Robeson Benn use his good office to make these boat owners plying the Parika/Supenaam service comply.
Some Essequibo route speed boats are without sheds
