To Commit with Conviction, Compassion and Consistency is the new theme of the Inner Wheel Club of Georgetown, unveiled Wednesday, at the Installation Meeting of 2010-2011 Executive Committee members at the Guyana Red Cross Headquarters, Kingston.
Speaking at the gathering, outgoing President Dorothy Fraser highlighted that the primary concern of the Inner Wheel Club has always been to support persons dealing with misfortunes across the country.
The main activity for the evening was the installation the new president, Ms.Barbara Waldron, along with other Executive committee members.
Accepting her new position with plans to continue working in accordance with the objectives of the club, Ms. Waldron applauded the efforts of outgoing committee members and congratulated the outgoing president for all her hard work and dedication during her tenure, especially during the Club’s 25th Anniversary celebrations in March.
She reassured those present of her commitment to ensuring that the Inner Wheel Club continues to progress throughout the coming year.
She said, “Today I’m beginning the second phase of the next 25 years of service to humanity.”
The Inner Wheel Club also made donations to several charitable organizations at last evening’s proceedings.
Accepting a gift on behalf of the Guyana Relief Council (GRC), Chairperson Mrs. Yvonne Hinds expressed her gratitude to the members of the Club.
She said, “I am happy for the donation which will enhance the Guyana Relief Council’s ability in carrying out its mandate.”
Mrs. Hinds encouraged Club members to continue their humanitarian services.
The first activity for the new period hosted by the Inner Wheel Club of Georgetown is set for July 25.
The club, formed on October 16, 1984, was registered on January 2, 1985, and had its first charter on March 16, 1985.
The founder President is Mayleen Davis who is still active and will be serving as a committee member.
