Blind man bonded to keep the peace

A visually impaired man was yesterday placed on a bond to keep the peace for nine months after he unlawfully assaulted a woman.
He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson and pleaded not guilty to the charge, which stated that on July 4, he unlawfully assaulted Melissa Harvey, so as to cause her actual bodily harm.

The defendant said he was talking to someone when he felt another person push him. He said his walking stick hit another person and he apologized to the person.
However, the virtual complainant said she works at Guyoil Gas Station and the defendant was seen on the premises. She said because she asked the defendant to remove he became annoyed and hit her with his walking stick, which broke.
The virtual complainant said she does not wish to proceed with the case and the defendant apologized to her.
