Damage to Skeldon boiler will not affect production in second crop

THE Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) has reported that, in the process of cleaning the Number 1 Boiler at the Skeldon Sugar Factory on Saturday morning, it experienced technical difficulties which damaged its pressure parts.
In a press release, GuySuCo said it immediately dispatched a team of experts to the factory. “The Chairman, Dr. Nanda Gopaul along with other top officials also visited the site to ascertain the extent of the damage,” the release said.

According to GuySuCo, the officials have determined that the damage to the Number 1 Boiler will not result in a delay to the start of the second crop this year at Skeldon and will similarly not affect production during this period.
“The manufacturer of the Boiler has been alerted and corrective work is expected to commence within a week,” the release said.
GuySuCo said that in the meantime, servicing of the Number 2 Boiler will commence after which this Boiler will be put into operation for the upcoming crop.
