GPH lab awarded Compliance Certificate

The Medical Laboratory at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) has once again received a Certificate of Compliance from the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS). This is for the seventh consecutive year.
Director of the lab, Dr. Leona Mohamed-Rambaran, was presented with the certificate by Ms. Rodlyn Semple, Technical Officer 2 with the GNBS.
This certification is a requirement of the Health Facilities Licensing Act of 2007.
The Medical Laboratory at the GPH received the certification as it has maintained a Quality Management System.
GPH’s laboratory is one of six other medical laboratories in Guyana that has been certified.
A statement from the GPH said, “This certificate highlights the commitment of the Laboratory to provide quality testing to its customers. Moreover, it covers the Microbiology, Haematology – including Blood Compatibility, and Biochemistry Sections of the Laboratory.”
Dr. Mohamed-Rambaran expressed her pride, and gratitude to her staff for their hard work which lent to this achievement.
She challenged them to continue to implement and maintain the system. She also thanked Mr. Michael H. Khan, Chief Executive Officer, GPH, for the role he has played in ensuring that the Lab reaches the desired standard in order to obtain this certificate.
