CLINTON Bourne, of Bara Cara, Canje, was remanded to prison, last Wednesday, when he appeared before Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo on a drug charge.
He pleaded not guilty, at New Amsterdam Court, also in Berbice, to trafficking four kilogrammes of cannabis (marijuana) on June 19.
The Court was told that the defendant was walking along Caracas Dam, in Angoy’s Avenue, the squatting area on the eastern fringe of New Amsterdam, when Police, on mobile patrol, saw him acting suspiciously and a search of a haversack he was carrying yielded the narcotic.
The case has been postponed to July 26.
