Affeze Khan adjudged Rotarian of the year

The Rotary Club adjudged past President Affeeze Khan its Rotarian of the year and outgoing President Pradeep Samtani described him as a Rotarian dedicated to service above self, and one who was ever ready to serve the needy.
The Rotary Club of Georgetown held its Installation Ceremony 2009-2010 last month at the Pegasus Hotel.
Outgoing President Pradeep Samtani thanked all for the help received during the year Rotarians were awarded for their service above self. The press, individuals and companies who helped to make the Rotary year 2009-2010 a success also received awards.
Prime Minister Samuel Hinds was honoured with the Paul Harris award for setting an example for many by his contributions to the Rotary Club of Georgetown and for making a difference in Guyana and in the lives of less fortunate people in the world.
Sister Mary Noel Menezes, also received the Paul Harris award for setting an example for many by her contributions to the needy in Guyana.
Past President Paul Chan-A-Sue also received a Paul Harris award for his service above self to the club. Other receivers, for contributions towards the Paul Harris awards were Rotarian Kanayalal Kirpalani, Past President Peter Abdool and businessman Vijay Ailani.
Contribution to the Rotary Foundation by the Club or members are used to provide educational opportunities, food for the poor, potable water in villages, health care, shelters, schools and books for thousands of children.
Assistant Governor Keith Williams was also honoured for his guidance to the club. Also other Rotarians, individuals and companied were recognized for their contribution towards the club during 2009-2010.
