Meeting with Minister Prashad…
A DELEGATION from China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) visited the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, on Thursday. Minister Manniram Prashad received CHEC Senior Vice- President, Mr. Chen Zhong and Marketing Director, Mr. David Zhang and expressed delight at their call, acknowledging that China is one of the fastest growing economies in the world.
CHEC is one of the biggest and strongest engineering companies in China and has five core business areas, including marine engineering, roads and bridges, railways, airports, surveys and designs.
It has enjoyed an excellent reputation and track record throughout the world covering over 70 counties and areas, among them Latin America and the Caribbean and, currently, employs some 6,000 domestic and international employees undertaking US$7.5 billion worth of projects annually.
CHEC was founded in 1980 and has completed a number of assignments successfully projects in Caribbean and Latin America, spawning Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama and Colombia.
The company is also able and experienced to secure financing at very favourable interest rates for projects in Guyana, the officials said.
They indicated that CHEC has great interest in working here and is hoping to open a local office in the near future.
