KEISHA Jeffrey and Ashley Khalil pulled off a heart-stopping victory over Guatemala in the quarterfinals of the female doubles at the VIII Pan American Junior Squash Championships in El Salvador. After losing the first game 10-11, this pair of tough competitors found their rhythm to take the second 11-6. The third was another dragged-out affair but once again Jeffrey and Khalil proved their mettle to clinch victory 11-9.
They will now face Ecuador in the semifinal. The other Khalil and Jeffrey, Jason Ray and Kayla emulated their siblings in the quarterfinals of the mixed doubles when they also managed to get past Guatemala and book a semifinal spot.
After clinching first game 11-10, Khalil and Jeffrey lost a close second 9-11 before stamping their authority on the third 11-6. They will have to face either heavyweights Mexico or the host nation El Salvador in the mixed doubles semifinal.
