EXPERIENCED handgun shooter Dale Hing scored a commanding win in last weekend’s Practical Pistol Shooting competition ahead of the planned Modern Optical Team competition scheduled for next month. Hing recorded a commanding 160 points after two stages at the Timehri ranges in the competition, organised by the handgun section of the Guyana National Rifle Association.
In the first stage Hing recorded 110 points in the running shoot event beating into second position David Dharry who ended on 98 points while Dr Johan DaSilva was third with 96.
The second stage (stationary shoot) saw Hing on 50 points edge out Ryan McKinnon who recorded 49.5 points with small-bore captain Joseph Chin finishing third with 36.5 points.
There were also creditable performances from Ian Rogers, Gordon Richards and John Ferreira.
In the overall points standing, Hing scored 160 points followed by Dr Da Silva with 130 while Ian Rogers came in third with 123 points.
According to Chin, last weekend‘s competition served as a warm-up for the GNRA team in preparation for the Modern Optical shooting championships which will take place on July 11 and will involve at least seven teams including GNRA, the Disciplined Services and Security Services.
Over 40 shooters are expected to compete in the one-day shootout at the Timehri ranges.
