THE Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) Drainage and Irrigation (D&I) Department has released its schedule for supplying water to the current rice crop.
A release said irrigation is currently in progress from Pomona to Good Hope, Riverstown to Annandale and Zorg-en-Vlygt to Andrews, all on the Essequibo coast.
Regional Vice-Chairman, Mr. Vishnu Samaroo, who is responsible for the department, said supply will be delivered in the downstream area between June 17 and 30.
He warned that farmers should continue conserving water and avoid vandalising D&I structures because the present weather pattern appears to be unfavourable.
Samaroo said the D&I Department will continue to monitor levels and the entire network so as to ensure that irrigation water is available for all farm lands.
