…invited by victim’s reputed husband
Shortly before 24-year-old Bibi Rafeena Saymar was brutally stabbed to death in her apartment early Saturday morning, reports are that her reputed husband, Dennis Persaud, had invited a rastafarian man to videotape the premises while she was out.
Relatives yesterday urged the police to question the landlady who operates a bar in the lower flat of the building , since they believe she is withholding vital information.
They told the Guyana Chronicle that the woman showed up at their Tuschen New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, yesterday afternoon and ordered them to empty the apartment.
Rafeena’s mother, Sunita Saymar, however, said that her husband visited the Lenora Police Station and enquired whether they can remove their daughter’s belongings from the apartment; but he was told that the premises are still a crime scene and investigations are still ongoing.
The grieving woman stated that the landlady gave different versions of what took place early Saturday morning when their loved one was murdered.
Sunita Saymar told the Guyana Chronicle too that the landlady has expressed her desire to have the apartment emptied and has threatened them that she will break into the place and put all the household furniture and appliances on the road, because she wants to rent the place to other people.
They added too that since their daughter’s murder, they have been receiving strange cellular phone calls from a man, from a blocked number enquiring about Rafeena’s murder.
Rafeena’s relatives also condemned the action of the police after reports surfaced that the three men held for the murder are being kept in the same lockups at Lenora Police Station.
Meanwhile, the Commander of ‘D’ Division, Mr. Gavin Primo, when contacted, could not be reached for a comment regarding this disclosure by relatives.
A post mortem yesterday on the body of Bibi Rafeena Saymar of Hague, West Coast Demerara, by Dr. V. Brijmohan, gave the cause of death as haemorrhage and shock due to multiple stab wounds. The body of Bibi Rafeena Saymar was found in her home on Saturday May 29, 2010, with multiple stab wounds to her back and neck.
Three persons, including the reputed husband of the murdered woman are in police custody.
Police on Saturday night said that subsequent investigations led to the arrest of her reputed husband and the suspect who are in police custody assisting with the investigations.
The police have unearthed evidence that her suspected killer was hired by her reputed husband.
In addition, a third man, who is believed to have transported the suspected killer during the commission of the crime, has been arrested by the police and is also in custody.
