A post mortem performed yesterday on the charred remains of New Amsterdam, Berbice taxi driver, Roy Mitchell Persaud, by Government Pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh, failed to determine the cause of death.
His remains were handed over to relatives yesterday for burial. Police said the man, who was in custody following the discovery of the charred remains in the trunk of a burnt car, has since been released from custody. But they are looking for several other suspects as investigations are continuing.
The remains of Roy Mitchell Persaud were discovered in the trunk of a burnt motor car on a dam at Palmyra Turn, East Canje, Berbice, on Sunday, May 9, 2010.
At about 11:20 hrs, acting on information received, the police found the remains which were burnt beyond recognition.
