At Demerara Assizes…

Murder trial judge to rule on no-case submissions
JUSTICE William Ramlal is expected to rule, today, on Defence no-case submissions in the West Coast Demerara murder case at the Demerara Assizes.

The judge is to decide whether or not a prima facie case has been made out, by the Prosecution, against the accused, Hafeez Khan.
Khan is indicted for the unlawful killing of Anthony Waldron alias ‘Pumpkin’, who died after being stabbed in the neck following a fight on February 22,  2004.
Following the closure of the State’s case yesterday, by State Counsel Prithima Kissoon, Defence counsel Khemraj Ramjattan, submitted, in the absence of the jury, that there is no case for Khan to answer and he should be freed at this stage.
