Hairdresser granted $25,000 bail on shoplifting charge

HAIRDRESSER Shelley Alleyne, 31, faced a simple larceny charge before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday.
The defendant (no address given) pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on May 10, at Muneshwar’s store in Water Street,
Georgetown, she stole four bars of soap valued $440 and one tube of herbal toothpaste worth $340, among other things with a total value of $2,218, property of Muneshwar’s Ltd.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Leslie Sobers, for Alleyne, claimed she had not left the business place when the allegation was made against her.
He said she informed the cashier that she had some items that were not cashed and the security guard detained her.
The accused shoplifter was granted $25,000 bail until June 22.
