Salvation Army leaders on one week visit here

SALVATION Army Territorial Chief Secretary, Lieutenant Colonel Lindsay Rowe and Territorial Secretary for the Caribbean Women’s Ministries, Lieutenant Colonel Lynette Rowe are currently in Guyana on a one week visit.
The Territorial Leaders, who arrived here last evening, are on their first visit to the division to inspect and review the work done by the Salvation Army in Guyana over the last five years.  They are due to return to the territorial headquarters, Jamaica next Monday.

Hosted by Divisional Commander, Major Sinous Theodore and Divisional Director of  Women’s Ministries, Major Marie Theodore and officers of the Division, the  leaders will, over the next week be engaged in a in a packed itinerary of activities which will take them to various Worship Corps around the division.
They begin their activities on today with an officers’ retreat at New Amsterdam  Berbice, after which they will return to the capital Georgetown for similar retreats on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Other highlights of the weeks’s itinerary include a Holiness Convention at Citadel Headquarters on Friday evening, at which the Rowes will be special guests.  At that meeting which will bring together hundreds of Salvationists from around Guyana, Territorial Secretary, Lt. Colonel Rowe will be Guest Speaker.  His topic will be; ‘Hindrances to Holiness’. 
Expressions of welcome will be done by Rev. Alphonso Porter, past chairman of the Guyana Council of Churches & District Superintendent of Church of the Nazarene, on behalf of the Christian community.
On Saturday morning at 9:30 there will be a March of Witness moving off from outside Citadel Headquarters, South Road and Alexander Streets and culminating at DEMICO House where an open air meeting will be held.
Following the open air meeting at Demico House, there will be a dynamic March of Witness through the streets of Georgetown, led by the Divisional Youth and Timbrel Brigade, making their way back to Citadel Headquarters for a mid afternoon Holiness Meeting.
The day’s activities will conclude with a worship service at Citadel Headquarters, beginning at 18:00 hrs. At which the challenge will be given by the visiting Chief Secretary.
Meanwhile, the curtains come down on the week of activities, with a Holiness meeting on Sunday morning at which junior and senior soldiers will be sworn in.  At this meeting, the  Territorial  Secretary for Women’s Ministries, Lt. Col. Lynette Rowe will deliver a testimony.  His Worship the Mayor of Georgetown, Hamilton Green is expected to be present.  And at 14:30 hours a Self Denial  Ingathering meeting, also at Citadel headquarters, will set the tone for a grand finale, on a week of activities hosted in honour of the visiting territorial leaders.
The leaders depart Guyana for Jamaica on Monday.
