Defendant, 16, on illegal gun, ammunition charges

RICHARD Walcott, 16, of Lot 177 James and Garnett Streets, Albouystown, Georgetown, was yesterday remanded into Police custody after he pleaded not guilty to charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Before Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton, it was alleged that the defendant, on  April 30, had possession of seven .25 rounds of ammunition and a .25  pistol without licences for them.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Mohammed Zafar, for the Defence, said Walcott saw the gun and bullets but did not pick them up.
However, Police Sergeant Shellon Daniels, prosecuting, said ranks were conducting routine searches and the defendant was found with the gun and rounds in his possession.
Walcott has to be back in Court on July 30.
