CBCSL to complete road project ahead of schedule

COURTNEY Benn Contracting Services Limited (CBCSL), which is executing works on East Bank Demerara under phase two of the Transportation Infrastructure Rehabilitation Programme, will complete the job ahead of schedule, General Manager Darren Benn said Thursday. He and other company officials were showing the media a view the imported prefabricated structures that he said would greatly aid the speedier completion.
Mr. Benn said CBCSL will no longer be burdened with that aspect of the construction with acquisition of 26 seven feet by seven feet boxes sourced from a Florida, United States manufacturer.
Others of a different specification are due in another couple of months, he said.
The units weigh between six and nine tones and are to be installed under the supervision of the Works Services Group of the Ministry of Public Works, along with Sheladia Associates Inc., also of the U.S. in collaboration with E&A consultants of Guyana.
Lot A-1 of the contract, worth $2,837,017,000, entails the building/rehabilitating of 13 structures from Garden of Eden to Timehri, 12 reinforced concrete box culverts, one pipe culvert and 10 sluice gates.
