TWO South Central Rupununi livestock herders appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday, charged with cattle stealing. Twenty-six-year-old Festus Atkinson and Norbert Atkinson, brothers, pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, last April 22, at Mier Mur Ranch, South Rupununi, they stole a heifer valued $85,000, belonging to Kenneth Fredericks.
Norbert told the Court he was highly intoxicated one the day he took the animal, having mistaken it for one of his.
Both siblings were granted $70,000 bail, each, until June 1, when their case will be called again, at Lethem Court, also in Rupununi, to where the case has been transferred.
