Former Kaieteur News staffer killed in road accident

FORMER Kaieteur News staffer Kishana Da Silva, of Lot 158 Rupununi Street, Bel Air Park, Georgetown, was killed in an early morning accident on Plaisance Public Road, East Coast Demerara, yesterday. It happened at 02:40 h, in the vicinity of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, as she was returning to the city in a vehicle of which the driver lost control.
GKK 7778 was being driven by Keith King, who was negotiating a bend on the southern side of the road and drove into a pool of water.
The vehicle skidded off the roadway into a chain link fence in the churchyard and the impact split a utility pole in half, resulting in a piece penetrating inside the vehicle and injuring Da Silva.
She was pronounced dead on arrival at Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) and her cousin, Alana Da Silva, who was with her, suffered minor injuries that were treated at the same institution.
The driver was taken into Police custody to assist with investigations after he, too, was treated for pains in the chest and sent away.
