The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) Inc., in a release yesterday, confirmed that the power interruption on April 25 that affected areas between Mocha and Diamond, East Bank Demerara, was due to the damage incurred on two legs of the transmission in Prospect.
GPL stated that they were aware of the problem. However, due to inclement weather conditions and difficult terrain, efforts to locate the faulty area were hampered.
Subsequently, the faulty section was isolated and power was restored, with consumers from Garden of Eden to Buzz-Bee Dam not being supplied through the affected section.
Repairs to the two phases of primary line in order to re-power the entire area were completed on April 26.
