The PPP remembers Sash Sawh

THE People’s Progressive Party (PPP), on the fourth death anniversary of  Satyadeow Sawh, salutes him for his contribution to its struggles. In a press release, the party said:
“April 22, 2010, marks the fourth anniversary of Satyadeow Sawh’s murder.
“At the time of his assassination, he was a member of the Central Committee of the PPP and Minister of Agriculture.
“Sash, as he was popularly called, was murdered in brutal circumstances. The killers seem to have as their main objective the desire to instill terror in our society in the run-up to the 2006 elections. However, that act did not bring the results that were expected.
“The anger of the Guyanese people was obvious. The PPP is calling for unity to rebuff those who hoped to destabilize our democratic state, and help to mobilize our people to reject violence as a political tool.
“The anger and sympathy was truly seen at the funeral of Comrade Sash Sawh and his siblings. Thousands of people from all walks of life came out in a show of respect for a truly people’s Minister, a warm-hearted and kind man,” the ruling PPP said.
“He clearly had a lot more to offer the party, government and people.
“However, his memory will live with us and we will continue to work tirelessly to build our country stronger and make it even more beautiful.
“This is the best way to honour Sash and many other Guyanese patriots who have passed on. Today, we remember Sash and salute him for his contributions to our struggles,” the party said.
