Police report on more drugs, gun, ammo finds

THE Police have reported on an anti-crime operation along Canje River, in Berbice, which was carried out Tuesday.
The release said a house was searched at Bara Cara and an unlicensed 12-gauge shotgun with five matching cartridges were found in it.
Police said they also found a quantity of dried marijuana, weighing 14 kilogrammes 653 grammes, which was lodged but a half acre field, of about 200 marijuana plants ranging in height from two to seven feet, was destroyed.
A man and a woman were arrested after those finds, together with another man who was stopped and searched and found in possession of 158 grammes of the same narcotic in a haversack.
In a separate incident, acting on information received and following subsequent investigations conducted, along with the interception of nine kilogrammes of compressed marijuana in the vicinity of his home, Davanand Rambarran, of Vriesland, West Bank Demerara, was charged with drug trafficking.
He appeared at Vreed-en-Hoop Court, West Coast Demerara, on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty, before Magistrate Nyasha Williams-Hatmin, who remanded him to prison until today.
