ST CATHERINE, Jamaica (CMC) – An unbeaten century from fast bowling all-rounder Andre Russell highlighted the final day of the Jamaica Cricket Association’s Festival series three-day match against Ireland at Chedwin Park on Monday.
Russell’s swashbuckling 108 not out, which came off just 65 deliveries in less than an hour-and-a-half at the crease, set up Jamaica’s total of 314 for seven in the second innings as the game petered out into a draw.
The 21-year-old came to the crease after Horace Miller (0) and Donovan Pagon (19) fell in quick succession at 159 for four and dominated proceedings with 10 sixes and seven fours
He added 55 for the fifth wicket with out-of-favour West Indies wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh, who made 19.
Earlier, at the top of the innings, Brenton Parchment and Danza Hyatt set the stage with a 100-run opening stand.
Parchment, who played the last of his two Tests and seven One-Day Internationals two years ago, scored 83 including seven fours and two sixes while Hyatt’s innings was laced with six fours and two sixes.
Gary Kidd was the best bowler for Ireland with three for 102 but he suffered at the hands of an onslaught from Russell.
Ireland were earlier dismissed for their overnight 275, after Russell took the last wicket to fall to end with four for 41 while leg-spinner Akeem Dewar four for 81.
Both teams will now turn their attention to the Twenty20 version of the festival, which also features Canada and West Indies.
