Two GFF Super League matches set for Sunday

PLAY in the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) Super League will continue on Sunday with two matches at different venues.
An all-East Coast affair is billed for the Enmore ground, East Coast Demerara with Victoria Kings seeking to harness the youthful Buxton United from 16:00 h.
At the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) in Linden, a dejected GDF XI will face a rejuvenated Milerock from 20:00 h. This fixture will be preceded by a supporting game from 18:00 h.
In last year’s Super League, Victoria Kings were kind of lucky to hold Buxton United to a draw by equalising in the dying stage of the game. However, this time around, Buxton United, who are leading the points standing with seven, will have other ideas and will attempt to get into double figures at the end of the final whistle.
At the MSC ground, GDF will attempt to regain some glory after bowing out of the Caribbean Football Union’s (CFU) Champions Club League after two games.
However, they will face a rejuvenated Milerock, who are sitting in the third position in the points standing with six and a win for them (Milerock) can propel them to the top of the points table, depending on the outcome of the other game at the Enmore ground.
The competition will continue on April 10 with another double-header that will see Bakewell Topp XX tackle Rosignol United and Milerock come up against Sunburst Camptown.
Meanwhile the GFF Under-17 Inter-Association competition will continue tomorrow with two matches.
In the Cinderella County of Essequibo, East Bank will throw down the gauntlet to Essequibo/Pomeroon at the New Opportunity Corps ground, in a game which is of academic Interest.
If East Bank is to qualify to the next round, they will have to defeat Essequibo by a large margin and West Demerara will have to do the same to Berbice when they meet at Uitvlugt ground.
Last Saturday, Berbice defeated Essequibo 6-0 and West Demerara defeated East Bank 5-0.
In the earlier fixtures, East Bank and Berbice played to a 1-1 draw and West Demerara defeated Essequibo 4-1.
The winner and runner-up of this preliminary round will go on to the second round.
The game at NOC commences at 14:00 h and at Uitvlugt ground, the game is scheduled for a 15:00 h start.
The Women’s Inter-Association competition is also scheduled to commence on April 10 with two matches.
Georgetown will oppose East Coast at the Enmore ground and Bartica will take on Berbice at the Blairmont ground.
