Technology and Natural Sciences to contest final next Friday

THE Faculties of Technology will face the Faculty of Natural Sciences in the final of the University of Guyana Inter-faculty Twenty20 competition, following contrasting semi-final
victories over Faculty of Technology and University of Guyana Berbice Campus (UGBC) respectively.
In their respective semifinal matches the Faculty of Technology defeated Faculty of Health Sciences by five wickets on Wednesday, while Faculty of Natural Sciences defeated UGBC by 69 runs yesterday with both matches being played at the UG, Turkeyen ground.
Health Sciences won the toss and, opting to bat first in their game against Faculty of Technology, scored 131 runs from their 20 overs, with Wayne Dodson 38 (3×4) and Albert Baird 20 (2×4) leading the batting against the bowling of K. Kendall who took 2-27.
In reply, the Faculty of Technology scored 132 for the loss of five wickets from 18.5 overs, with Rabindranauth Ramkellawan top-scoring with 37 which included four fours and Sherwin Webster 21 (3×4).
In the second semifinal played at the same venue, Faculty of Natural Sciences defeated University of Guyana Berbice Campus by 69 runs, thanks to Wasim Haslim’s pugnacious 64 made of 29 deliveries with nine fours and three sixes.
Haslim received support from Rovin Crawford 32 (2×6, 1×4) and Naveed Ally 30 (3×4, 1×6) against the bowling of Berbice Cricket Board’s (BCB) successful Under-15 coach Julian Moore who took 3-20 and Colin Bynoe 2-27.
Haslim returned to scalp 2-6 and along with Latchman Nakkul’s 4-24, bowled out UGBC for 113 in 16 overs, with Muneshwar Rashdharry and Tosho Forrester leading the batting with 19 and 17 respectively, with the former hitting four fours and the latter two.
The final will be played at the same venue next Friday from 12:30 h.
