Idleness is one of the greatest sicknesses

IDLENESS is one of the greatest sicknesses on our planet. And I am quite sure you are aware of all the old saying of idle minds; I need not go them over here. Here in recent times I find that persons are trying all means possible to interfere with progress and development. There are some individuals who are making all sorts of remarks about our leaders and persons in high offices of this land.
Recently, Mr. Rohit Parmanand who claims to work within the agriculture sector wrote a letter on March 31, 2010 in Kaieteur News seeking answers from the Minister of Agriculture. Firstly, I don’t think the Minister would ever respond to him but I want to share a few points as a concerned citizen.
Firstly, the Minister of Agriculture has to answer to the Parliament and its members, which includes members of the Opposition. These answers, for Mr. Parmanand information, are aired on National Television and published in newspapers. There are many instances that I can recall looking at our local media, majority of these questions were answered. I would hate to know that one wants to voice his opinions through a media when he pays no attention to the media itself. I am not sure whether I should call that hypocrisy.
The agriculture sector has grown under the current Minister and I can start to list the number of things that were done through his current regime but I might take up too much space. The radar Doppler, the many sluices, the DAWA pump, the new pastures for cattle, introduction of new varieties of livestock (Pigs, sheep, cattle) release of new varieties of rice etc are some of the few  out of many things that I just want to list. How then can one talk ill of a person that has all of this up his sleeve under his administration?
I wish to conclude by saying that we can only encourage another human being by acknowledging the good works that individual is doing and not by criticising that person’s every action. But remember, what goes around do comes around and Mr. Rohit Parmanand should be hoping that the Minister does not sue him for whatever he is worth.
