Training programme for T20 World

Cup project team volunteer service
AS the opening of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) third Twenty20 World Cup nears, the Guyana Project Team is also stepping up the pace and yesterday they conducted their Volunteer Training Programme at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.

Guyana will play host to the opening ceremony as well as the first round matches of the tournament and 150 local Volunteers will be part of the tournament offering services in areas such as ushering, ticketing, meet and greet along with logistics.

According to Promotions and Corporate Services Officer Sabrina Panday 95% of the persons chosen are those who have worked in 2007 during the ICC Cricket World Cup.

“This is basically to refresh you guys memories because you would have done all this before in 2007 and then it was more up tight and so on, but now, this is not as vigorous and not as long so that’s why we only took 157 as compared  to 350 then.
We know all you need now is some brushing up and to add in a few new areas and you will be ok” said Panday who will also overlook the service.

Czerina Castelo would stand as the supervisor of the volunteers that will be part of history, as one of the game’s more exciting format  will be held for the first time in the Caribbean (Guyana, St Lucia, Barbados and St Kitts).(Rawle Toney)
