Accused drug trafficker, illegal gun defendant remanded

JUDE Pompey was yesterday remanded to prison, by Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton, on a drug trafficking charge.
He pleaded not guilty to having 29 grammes of cannabis (marijuana) for the purpose on March 17.
Defence Counsel Vic Puran, in a failed application for the defendant to be granted bail, claimed nothing was found on Pompey and two other persons arrested at the same time were released.
Pompey has to be back in Court July 1, two days before Dexter Morrison (no address given either), who was also refused pre-trial freedom on charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
He, too, pleaded not guilty, denying that, on March 16, without lawful authority, he had a .38 revolver and six matching rounds for which he had no licences.
Morrison’s next Court date is June 29.
