Albion, Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets clash in final tomorrow
THE historic Port Mourant Cricket Club ground, home of numerous cricketing legends, is expected to come alive tomorrow when arch rivals Albion Community Centre (ACC) and Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets (RHTGG) clash in the finals of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)/Ramcharitar Construction 40 Overs first division competition.
The match promises to be a thriller despite the fact that both teams would be missing several senior players due to injuries, West Indies commitment and overseas cricket contract.
ACC would be without the services of West Indies all-rounder Narsingh Deonarine and the injured Veerasammy Permaul but still have a strong team on paper with skipper Orvin Mangru leading a well-balanced team.
Opener Sewnarine Chattergoon will lead the batting with support from his brothers, Ramnarine and Harrinarine, Manoj Pooranauth, Mangru and national right-arm leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo, who has proved he is no rabbit with the bat.
Bishoo takes care of the bowling attack in the absence of Permaul and will be supported by off-spinners Mangru, Ramnarine and Harrinarine Chattergoon, medium pacer Doodnauth Lallbeharry and left-arm spinner Satesh Dwarka.
RHTGG will be led by national middle- order batsman Assad Fudadin, with support in the batting department from the experienced Khemraj Mahadeo, Jason Sinclair, Clinton Pestano, Dominic Rickey, Eon Hooper, Lloyden Lewis and Terrence Madramootoo.
Medium pacers Eon Gibson and Madramootoo are expected to share the new ball while off-spinners Hooper, Troy Matheison, Fudadin, Lewis and leg-spinner Ravi Narine would offer support on a pitch which would be slow in nature.
Umpires for the match are: Dhieranidranauth Somwaru and Clement Brusch.
The tournament is being sponsored by Contractor Annirud Ramcharitar of Friendship Village and he is expected to meet both teams before the game.
The winning team will take away $60 000 and a trophy, the runners-up $30 000 and the man-of-the-final $5 000 and a trophy.
