The PNCR/AFC concoction of arrogance and revenge against me will not survive

The very act of the bogus suspension against me by the PNCR/AFC Councillors of Region Four is a concoction of arrogance and revenge against me because of my persistent and consistent exposure of the Regional Chairman Mr. Clement Corlette’s misguided and illegal activities at the Region. The PNCR/AFC campaign has taken different forms over time including threats and intimidation, none of which could be strong enough to force me into silence.

Their effort has intensified because of my recent attempt to highlight and address by way of a motion the poor leadership capabilities of the Regional Chairman. Again, at the February 16 statutory meeting of the Council, Mr. Corlette was in breach of the standing orders by unilaterally deciding he was not entertaining the motion proposed by me even though the Clerk advised him that the laws provided for its accommodation.

Mr. Corlette’s intolerance to challenges and criticisms are hallmarks of his leadership qualities as he seeks to maintain a domineering, dictatorial role at the RDC.

The PNCR/AFC concoction of arrogance and revenge against me will not survive as I am prepared for a ‘ding-dong battle’’ in the interest of preserving my rights, responsibilities and obligation to protect the people of Region Four.

Mr. Corlette and his misguided pack will be challenged for their bogus attempt to silence and censor me by fabricating a case of misconduct and voting for a 90 days suspension.

Mr. Corlette entertained PNCR Councillor Benfield’s motion to suspend me, a motion that was presented without prior notice which is in clear contradiction of his previous position when I presented my motion to the Council which he rejected on the grounds of not having sufficient notice.

The Regional Chairman is clearly biased against me and exercises partisan leadership as demonstrated by his comments in the February 17 edition of Stabroek News:

“However, Corlette in response, stated that Mc Coy’s request would be denied on the grounds that he, the Chairman, was not given sufficient notice and that the rules governing the situation were not being followed. He stated that the matter was also outside of the constitution of the Council, adding that the request  Mc Coy should have made some 96 hours in advance of the commencement of the meeting.”

Why didn’t Mr. Corlette exercise his prerogative as Chairman to reject PNCR Councillor Benfield’s motion the same way he did mine?

Furthermore, I am convinced that the decision of a suspension is null and void because the motion had a procedural breach having been presented under any other business instead of under the Agenda item of Motions. But this point highlights the ensconced hatred of the PNCR/AFC side for Kwame Mc Coy who is frank and fearless to challenge any issue.

The collaboration between the PNCR and AFC has to be true to form as PNCR Councillor Benfield’s motion was seconded by AFC Councillor Anthony Haynes who was not even present at the February 16th statutory meeting and therefore would have been unable to judge my conduct at that meeting.

Mr. Corlette and his acolytes need to say what constitutes “disobedience” as it is a highly subjective determination on anyone’s part.

Mr. Corlette is hoping to deflect attention from the real issue of his poor leadership capabilities which is responsible for where we are today on this and many other issues.

The Regional Chairman’s action of taking the Clerk/REO to Court is another example of his autocratic parade as he failed to consult the Councillors of Region Four. The dismissal of the matter by the High Court has brought the Council into disrepute, undue and severe embarrassment; and further demonstrates the Regional Chairman’s misunderstanding of his role, functions and responsibility as against those of the CLERK/ REO who is the Chief Executive Officer of the Regional.

There is plethora of evidence to support Mr. Corlette’s misdirection to the Council based on the established view of the Court which therefore brings his leadership and competence into serious question.
