Three children saved from Wismar Housing Scheme fire

Screams by three children led to them being rescued from their blazing home Friday night in Wismar Housing Scheme, Linden.
Neighbours hurried to the home of Natasha Sahadeo after fire broke out in the bedroom as Dexter Scotland, four, Donille, six, and Denille Tappin, eight, were at home alone. Their parents were attending to a business they own in Mackenzie.

Sahadeo said she had left home around 21.00h to assist her husband with their business. The children were watching television, and she recalled there was some fluctuating electrical current in the home a couple of nights earlier. Her daughter told her that they heard a booming sound in the bedroom, and this might have started the fire.

Neighbours took credit for putting out the blaze. They reported the fire tender arrived late when all was lost.
Only recently the Linden Utility Services Cooperative Society (LUSCSL) had pleaded with residents living on the west bank of Linden, Wismar, to ensure that their buildings are wired by certified electricians and the proper electrical items, such as approved wires are bought for installation in buildings.
