RSTC pre-Mash meet gallops off on Sunday

THE Rising Sun Turf Club (RSTC) annual pre-Mashramani horse racing meeting gallops off on Sunday with seven races set for the day, which has over $2.5M in cash and prizes up for grabs, thanks to Digicel and Trophy Stall among others.

According to a press release issued by the club, all races will be run under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority (GHRA) and all horses are subject to reclassification pending the results of any race meeting prior to the upcoming event.
At a simple presentation ceremony held in their respective offices, Digicel, who will be celebrating their fourth year as a telecommunications provider here in Guyana, and Trophy Stall presented a cheque for $250 000 and the Champion Jockey trophy respectively to the race organisers.
The C and Lower class race, which will cover a distance of 1 600 metres, carries a first prize of $600 000 and a trophy and is the longest race of the day, which will see three races being run over 1 300 metres for Three Years Old, F and Lower and Division One and Two horses.
G and Lower, I and Lower and Division Three horses will compete over a distance of 1 100 metres in the final three races that will culminate the day’s proceedings and interested persons can contact Fazal on 232-0232, I.
