ADMINISTRATORS of the Harpy Eagles Boxing Gym of Agricola, under the auspices of Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA), will host an eight-bout boxing card tomorrow, to recognise the opening of the recently renovated facility.
The momentous occasion is a chance to keep the amateur boxers in constant activity and holds firm to the mandate that GABA president Steve Ninvalle disclosed as his association’s aim.
The card will feature pugilists from three categories. In the Under-15 category Seon Griffith will oppose Joel Williamson (75-79 lb) and Jermaine Agard will square off with Donald Trapp (103-110 lb).
The Youth Category will comprise the welterweight match-up of Fabian Anthony and Ron Smith. The ladies will also have a say as Theresa London and Amanda Charles will match blows in a lightweight bout. The Open Elite category will see the battle between flyweights Imran Khan and Danishwar Narine, junior welterweights Akeem Alexander and David Thomas will also meet in the ring.
There will also be a middleweight match-up with Devon Boatswain and Dennis Thomas punching it out and a light-heavyweight bout between Trelon Munroe and Sherwin Clarke.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Dr Frank Anthony will officially open the facility by cutting the ribbon. The weigh-in will be at 10:00 h and the action gets under way at 11:00 h. GABA has also organised a Barbecue and Fish Fry that will be held in conjunction with the boxing card.
