Tractor/trailer owner, driver charged with causing death
THE driver of tractor and trailer which was involved in a fatal accident last week, Nankumar Narine was ordered to post $260,000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at Suddie Court yesterday.
He faced charges of causing death by dangerous driving, unlicensed driving, uninsured and unregistered motor vehicle and operating uncertified vehicle.
Narine, who was slapped with 10 charges, was also charged with failing to stop after an accident, failure to render assistance after and not reporting an accident.
Owner of the tractor and trailer, Narine Sooknarine, also of Riverstown, who made an appearance on three charges in the same Court, is on $75,000 bail.
He and Narine are jointly charged with causing the death of woodcutter Wray Sheldon Munroe, 32, of Airy Hall, last week Tuesday night, on Onderneeming Public Road, also on the Essequibo Coast.
It was reported that the victim fell off the unrailed trailer which was attached to the tractor around 22:00 h and was run over by one of the two vehicles travelling in tandem.
Munroe had been employed by Sooknarine who, like Narine, has to make his next Court appearance on March 29.
