Man charged with jewellery theft from ex-girlfriend

A SUSPECT being pursued by Police rode his motorcycle along a one way street and was only captured when he fell.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, told of the chase when he denied that the pursuing Police car hit the motorcyclist.
Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson heard of the incident when Dominique Greaves, 32, pleaded not guilty to stealing jewellery from his ex-girlfriend.

The defendant, of Lot 169 Fourth Street, Alexander Village, Georgetown was put on $100,000 bail until March 16.
Particulars of the offence said, on January 3, Greaves stole two gold rings valued $50,000 and one gold and diamond ring worth $300,000, all property of Sattie Persaud.
Defence Counsel Trenton Lake revealed that the virtual complainant and the defendant had been involved in a relationship and, two days after his last visit, she accused him of taking her jewels.
Lake said Greaves was going about his normal business when he observed a car following him and rode away, fearful of being robbed once again.
But the vehicle followed him and struck him off the motorbike before a policeman informed that he was wanted at a station.
The lawyer said the Police also told Greaves he is responsible for the damage on the car.
The virtual complainant, who was in the courtroom, said she shared a three-year relationship with the defendant and, when he left her home, after spending the last night there, she discovered her rings missing and he was the only other person at her house.
