THE Grand Finale of Mayor Hamilton Green’s 75th birth anniversary 7-a-side football tournament is set to go down this evening at the Fruta Conquerors’ Ground in Tucville.
Pele FC will tackle Crane in one of the two semi-final matches; the other will feature Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United and Riddim Squad.
The victors of the semi-final encounters will face off in the final match which will be played later in the evening. Gregory Richardson, Solomon Austin, Travis Grant and Mervin Joseph will lead the charge for Pele as they come up against Crane’s Kester Alberts, Charles Stoby, Dellon Parkinson and Collis Walters.
Riddim Squad’s Hope brothers, Sceyon; Sheldon and Stephan, will have to fend off Kelvin McKenzie, Quincy Madramootoo, Ronson Williams, Dwight Peters and Elton Brown. They will all be vying for the $300 000 first prize and the MACORP champion’s trophy. The not-so-fortunate 1st, 2nd and 3rd runners-up will receive consolations of $100 000, $60 000 and $40 000 respectively.
A number of exhibition games are also on the ticket for this evening’s activities with each of the winners of the various matches receiving $25 000 for their efforts.
The teams to compete in the exhibition matches are West Side, Festival City, Uitvlugt, Leopold Street, Houston, Thomas Lands, Charlotte Street, GFC, Den Amstel, Campbellville, Mahaica and Agricola.
