IT is with much joy that I read a recent letter by the Esteem Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud in KN with reference to Hindu unity on issues that have to do with the celebration and desecration of Hindu festivals.
For a long time many Hindu Leaders have tried to unite Hindu organisations for one common purpose. Some are genuinely for the propagation of dharma and a few for their own self interest. I myself have been a party to such a process.
We failed more than once. The reasons for our failure are not important now. What is important is that Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud has been able to bring several Hindu organisations together for a single cause.
This is a step in the right direction, and here I call on all our Pandits and Hindu Leaders to join with Panditji so that we can bring about the Hindu unity that so far has been very elusive.
Perhaps we have not yet recognised that there is an international effort and determination to destroy the Hindu families through music, drugs, alcohol, etc. The types of shows and programmes that are taking place nationally are directly targeting Hindu youths.
The promoters set out first to destroy the Hindu identity. They have no interest in promoting morals and decency. Jamaican music glorifies destruction. Trinidadian music promotes alcohol and sex.
In the effort to break the Hindu family these artists directly target the Hindu youths which is the reason for wanting to do these promotions on Hindu festive days.
For all it is worth I congratulate Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud for his work in bringing Hindu organisations together. I pledge my support to him and hope all Hindu leaders will find it rewarding in uniting to face the devastating process that is challenging us.
