Essequibo Guyoil Manager drowns

FORTY-SEVEN-YEAR-OLD Francis Ramnauth, manager of the Guyoil Bulk Fuel Station at Adventure, Essequibo Coast, lost his life Friday night when he lost control of the vehicle he was driving and plunged into the Rivertown Creek.
According to reports reaching the Guyana Chronicle, Ramnauth was returning home from work when tragedy struck around 21:30 hours.
Ramnauth was reportedly driving the Company’s ‘pick up’ when it skidded off the bridge and plunged into the creek, pinning him in the driver’s seat while he was under water.
Three boys, who were standing on the public road, not far away from the bridge, saw when the vehicle plunged into the Creek and ran to render assistance. However, they were unable to do so as the ‘pick up’ sank quickly because of the high tide, reports said.
The vehicle was pulled from the Creek Saturday morning.
Among those he leaves to mourn are his wife and two children.
